HISTORY / SOCIAL STUDIES

History and social studies are really not just about a lot of dates and a lot of dead people. They are so much more than that. Our history and social studies teachers teach history the way they should be taught--by telling stories. Everybody likes stories and that is what history is. Taught this way, history and social studies are exciting. A lot of hands-on activities take place. Students dress up as historical characters, they watch historical movies, they see real footage from historical events and they go to real and staged places of historical significance. Places like the Reagan Library, the Japanese American Museum, Olvera Street, Getty Museum, the Nixon Library, the Holocaust Museum of L.A. and Medieval Times are just a few of the places that our students get to visit outside of the four classroom walls.
