Who Are We?

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:19-20

San Fernando Valley Academy (SFVA) began in 1902. SFVA is proud to hold the distinction of being the oldest and private school in the San Fernando Valley. Having been a technical school when it opened, and then becoming an elementary school in 1923, SFVA graduated its first high school class in 1961. The school has continued as both an elementary and high school ever since.

SFVA is part of the Seventh-day Adventist educational system. Our mission is two-fold: Be a Seventh-day Adventist Christian light to our community and prepare students for higher education and ultimately life as a productive citizen. SFVA believes that formal education does not stop at the high school level, but, rather, high school is a stepping stone for higher education. As a college preparatory school, SFVA has prepared hundreds of students in such fields as medicine, education, business, engineering and law.

Principal's Message

We are so happy that you have decided to take a look at our website. That means that you have interest in our school or perhaps are already involved in our school. Either way, whether you are searching for a school or you are already a member of our family, we hope that you feel welcome.

SFVA is a Seventh-day Adventist Christian school that has a proud tradition of not only being a college prep institution, but also a place where any person of any age should feel comfortable in our family atmosphere. We believe what Jesus taught: To love others as we'd want to be loved.

The teacher/student ratio is low at this school. This means that each student gets ample time with the teachers. Students are not just a seat filler at SFVA. They are each individuals created for a higher purpose and each teacher spends additional time outside the normal classroom hours helping to develop the young minds for life in college and beyond.

If you have not visited our campus yet, please do so. Our campus has been here many years, so it may not shine with glitz, but the hearts that educate the students here are dedicated and committed to developing academically superior, world-prepared and Christ-filled students. We look forward to meeting you soon.
